Tobago is a very important nesting ground for the leatherback turtle. The largest species of marine turtles, the leatherback comes ashore in the nesting season (March to August) to lay its eggs on Turtle Beach, Back Bay and Grafton Beach. Leatherbacks are endangered; therefore turtle-watching tours must be undertaken with certified tour guide. |
